The Saga Continues:

The Vet told The Lady that Shilo was turned loose due to the lack of Vitamin C - that he needed sunlight to obtain the vitamins he needed.  The Lady said that she felt uncomfortable with The Vet turning Shilo out.   We both agreed that Shilo needed to come back to the barn and rest in a stall.

We brought Shilo back to the barn on a Thursday or Friday afternoon.  I went everyday at different times to see Shilo, brush him and love on him.  He was doing fine.  Still stiff.  Then on Monday morning about 9am I received the phone call that helped make a future decision about Shilo.

The Lady called.  She asked if I had seen Shilo, that he looked really really bad.  She thought he needed to be put down or have another vet look at him at least.  I told her to stay put and I would be out immediately.

I went out and found Shilo. As I had found him for the last four days... in the stall, putting most of his weight on three of his legs and holding up the left hind leg.  He was not running fever, looking depressed....he was still hurt.  At this point I had to figure out Plan B.

I had Plan B already in my mind...now to get approval.

On Tuesday Morning I flew to New Orleans (I am a pilot and we had a trip going there).  I drove over to my mom's and talked with her vet.  I asked about trailering Shilo to Louisiana to Mom's place.   Her vet said that it was not without risk, but if we did it right he did not think it could hurt any worse.  Mom agreed that she could take Shilo on and that she could help nurse him back to health.

This is when Operation Shilo was born.
